Can you join the Yellow Awayday?
On Saturday, The Fleet had a vital 2-0 home win against Gateshead which means that we are still alive at the bottom of the Blue Square Premier League. We go to Tamworth next Saturday needing to win, in what was described to me by a Fleet Fan as possibly the most important game in their history.
Tamworth are located in the Midlands, perhaps more accessible for many MyFC members, with a "pick your own price" gate entry and excellent real ale, there's never been a better and more important time to come together and support the club. As Tamworth play in red, our yellow away strip will be worn.
Will you help fill our end of the ground and bring the yellow terror to Tamworth?
Permutations
There are 2 more relegation spots to fill, probably between us, Gateshead and Eastbourne.
Gateshead have a game at home to newly crowned champions Stevenage Borough on Tuesday, and if they don’t win, we are still alive going to Tamworth on Saturday. If they manage to scrape a win, we have to get the best position we can.
When we go to Tamworth, we have to win, but a 2 goal win might give us the edge over Eastbourne if they draw.Even if things don't go our way, there are teams above us with financial and ground problems, so there is still a chance we may get a reprieve by that route at the league AGM in June. Basically, we have to win, and then see where we end up.Gate Pricing
Tamworth have opted for a "pick your own price" gate entry for this game - you can give them any amount of money you want to watch the game, if you want to watch for a pound, that’s all it is (Seats are also available at £14 & £9, Peter Danzey confirms). Away fans are welcome in the club bar which serves some of the excellent local Real Ales.
Come together
It has often been said that MyFC should have gone for a team in the Midlands, rather than Kent, as it was easier for more people across the UK to get to games. Well, here is your chance - a vital game, middle of the country, a bar to go in, and you pay what you like to watch the game. What more could you want?
The Fleet Trust are running a coach from Kent and details will be posted later in the week can be found here. Hopefully we can get good numbers up there as I hear 17 are going as a group by train, many others by car. If you can give anybody a lift, please post here where you are travelling from and where you can pick up.
The Players believe we can win, the Coach believes we can win, the Chairman believes we can win. If you're UK based and free next Saturday, even if you're a MyFootballClub skeptic, please try and get to the game to support the team in this vital match. Now is the time to believe.
Keith
