With the first pre-season friendlies coming up next month, the squad will soon come together in preparation for the new season and the Fleet will be starting their campaign in the Blue Square Bet South League on Saturday August 14th 2010. It was a big disappointment for all last April when the team were relegated, but now it's a time to rebuild and push on for a successful season.
Many of the members and fans are grouping together to "Adopt a Player" in an attempt to boost the budget for the playing squad. Around £15k has been pledged for this by people worldwide to help the cost of wages. As the season squad is built in the coming month, hopefully this figure will rise and the team can get even better financial backing.
Fundraising will always be an important area of the project and one area that anybody can help with, be they member or not, is to buy on the web through our Amazon affiliate link. A simple
purchase through this link of a book, CD, gift voucher or whatever will earn a useful commission for the society. Even small amount (for example a recent purchase of a printer cartridge brought in £1.90) build up through weight of numbers to support the squad club's activities. Very useful money if people bookmark the link and use it regularly.
Decision time
Members of MyFootballClub.co.uk are now in a period where a number of decisions need to be made. These include recently completed votes on the appointment of a new Chairman and Vice Chairman of Ebbsfleet United Football Club.
Another decision concerns the new deal with Lotto, next seasons kit supplier, as members decide how much the club should charge for a replica home and away shirts, shown below. The home shirt is the traditional red whilst the away shirt will be purple.
Following the upgrade of the MyFC non member site, a proposal has been approved for this to be
extended to the rest of the site, this work, with members and web designers Big Spring, should continue over the summer prior to the new season.
The Society Board
The MyFC Society Board is a group of members who help to coordinate the Society and work with the Club. We recently held elections to fill 2 vacant seats and they were won by Kittykatkent from Kent and Roca fom Holland, bringing the board to ten people from around the UK, Europe and the USA.
Further elections will be held for various posts over the summer and any member can
stand for these positions within the Society and other roles.
By maintaining or increasing the membership of MyFootballClub, the Society should be in a better position to help fund the club and help to build the club in the future. The Society has members in many countries around the world with as 2,000 in the UK and over 400 in the United States of America.
If you are not wanting to join the Society, you can still follow the progress of the Club and Society via Facebook. On there you can also take part in competitions for Fleet prizes from time to
time. It's time now to rebuild the Club and Society after last year, I hope you can consider being part of it.
MyFC Society Board Chairman.
