One of the benefits of the MyFootballClub model is that the Club can draw on the expertise and support of a wide number of people, spread around the world. We still have a long way to go to optimising this, as matching requirements to expertise is still stuck at the level of "we need help, who's around" forum post.
What we really need is a kind of jobs notice board, where the Club can post jobs and timescales, Members can post their skills and availability, and the two can be matched up. Such a framework would also add to the community spirit by giving recognition and social capital for members that take part. Anyway, that's on our list of future plans. In the meantime, the old school method is being used to boost attendances locally.
Whilst MyFC supports the club financially through subscriptions, a few more people attending would boost income significantly, not to mention the atmosphere at the games. With this aim, MyFC member Milesy has been spearheading the Fleet Trust's Bums on Seats Squad, producing matchday posters for display in shops & businesses in the Gravesend area.
We'll be linking these from the match previews on this site, but you can download the latest poster, and join the BOSS squad here.
We'll also be linking to the excellent Google Maps layer maintained by MyFC member Hoofa. These show the location of the ground and local info like transport, pubs, restaurants etc. We hope in future to make this a more dynamic resource, to enable members around the country to coordinate meetups, lifts etc. With 2000 members across the UK we could have the biggest regular away following in the Conference!
